Why have HSE manuals and policies?
Health, safety and welfare at work are the subject of strict and all pervading legislation. Compliance is essential. Because the subject is so large, we suggest you read our free information pages.
Who will use this manual?
HSE06 is a comprehensive ‘all round’ manual for use in the footwear and leather industry. It ensures that safety in your workshop or factory is given top priority. We have identified the main causes of accidents and ill health in leather workshops and targeted these aspects in detail. Within the industry there are many different areas such as tanning, manipulating the raw materials, cleaning, preservation and treatment and packaging to name a few. This manual deals with the most important health and safety issues within the industry.
Processes specific to your business entail specific risks. The more specialised and dangerous your operations, the more you must liaise with your H&S inspectorate and take detailed advice on aspects of your H&S policy which will require additions to your manual. What we have provided in this version are comprehensive and detailed provisions relating to the leather -goods and footwear industry.
If you know of specific risks local to your business, we can draft a bespoke document for you.
Lengthy but not laborious
As you will deduce from the size of these documents, they are very thorough. However, they are written in plain English. The size of the documents is merely so that all areas of HSE legislation are covered.
