Why have HSE manuals and policies?

Health, safety and welfare at work are the subject of strict and all pervading legislation. Compliance is essential. Because the subject is so large, we suggest you read our free information page.

Who will use this manual?

HSE09 is a comprehensive ‘all round’ manual for use in the forestry industry. It can be used by businesses who deal in specific tasks within the industry such as wood chipping, tree-lopping, or transportation of timber, or a combination of any of these and others.

We have identified the main causes of accidents and ill health within the industry and targeted these aspects in detail. Within the forestry industry there are many different sectors such as wood-chipping, tree-lopping, transport and contractors who deal in all of any one of such tasks. This manual deals with the most important health and safety issues when working in the forestry business. No matter what your task, if you work in forestry, this manual will ensure compliance with HSE issues.

Processes specific to your business entail specific risks.  The more specialised and dangerous your operations, the more you must liaise with your H&S inspectorate and take detailed advice on aspects of your H&S policy which will require additions to your manual. What we have provided in this version are comprehensive and detailed provisions relating to the farming industry.

If you know of specific risks local to your business, we can draft a bespoke document for you.

Lengthy but not laborious
