How it works
Do not rely on this calculator. It is not intended to be a precise tool, but to give ball park figures. We cannot know what interpretation a tribunal will give to your claim. We disclaim all liability for the consequences of your using it!
In cases of discrimination for sex, race, and so on, there is no upper limit to the sum a tribunal might award. That does not mean an employer should fear the level of payout reported from time to time in the Sunday papers.
In cases of discrimination for sex, race, and so on, the tribunal will form a view on the appropriate level of compensation, depending on the action complained of. They might add £1,000, or £10,000 or £100,000. For the purpose of this exercise, we have added £20,000 in every such case.
The calculator adds £5,000 for the less common reasons for unfair dismissal, such as dismissal for belonging, or not belonging, to a trade union.
The redundancy calculation takes no account of any greater redundancy payment which may be due contractually or as a result of a collective agreement.
