Hello from Grattons (Crawley) Indoor Bowls Club Ltd. We are limited by guarantee with no share capital. Our present Articles are over 40 years old and most certainly out of date and in parts incorrect. As a new Co Sec I was given the task of presenting a revised and up to date AofA to the Board. I have no previous experience in these matters. It became clear early on that I would require 'legal' assistance but I wanted to construct the new document myself and in the process learn some company law that's relevant to our club. Self-help sites on the internet were numerous, some looked easy, some difficult to navigate. However, you were mentioned in my club papers (someone perhaps had done some earlier trawling) and I looked on your site. It soon became clear that this is what I was looking for. Templates were simple to understand and I could see clearly that there was one that covered our type of company; your guidance was clear & concise and not too much 'legalese'. So I bought your package, launched all the documents and slowly worked my way through them. I managed to construct a first draft AofA that I presented to the Board. We are a company limited by guarantee providing local community services. Having been incorporated in 2009 under the 1985 Companies Act we wanted to modernise our governing documents. The suggestion was that we should adopt the model articles under the 2006 Act. I looked at a number of modern model articles and compared these clause by clause with the 2006 Act model Articles. The Net Law model came out as favourite because of its clear and concise drafting and the detailed explanatory notes. We wanted a number of minor changes to suit our requirements which were easy to achieve because of the documents simple formatting.
