About this document

In accordance with the Employment Act 2002, the Family Rights Act 2006 and further secondary legislation including the Flexible Working Regulations 2006, employees who are eligible have a right to request flexible working hours so that they can look after a child or an adult who needs care.

The right is a right to request, not a right to work flexibly.

This letter is suitable for use when you have thoroughly considered the employees request to work flexibly, have attended a meeting with the employee to discuss the proposals (required by law) and have decided that the proposal would have significant adverse impact on the business.
