EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Army Terms of Service Regulations 2007 (“the 2007 Regulations”).

Regulation 2 provides for regulation 11(2) of the 2007 Regulations to be amended so that the calculation of the notice period, which a person who has enlisted in the regular army has to complete before exercising the right

to be transferred to the reserve, begins with the date of the person’s enlistment or their 18th birthday, whichever is the later.

Regulation 3 revokes the Army Terms of Service (Part-time Service in Northern Ireland) Regulations 1992 consequent on the disbandment of the Northern Ireland resident battalions of the Royal Irish Regiment (to which they relate).

A full regulatory impact assessment has not been carried out for this instrument as it has no impact on business, charities or voluntary bodies.
