About this document
Some clients expect miracles at low cost. This contract primarily gives you legal protection from claims in words to which your clients will not be frightened to agree.
The terms have been kept simple so that you can use it even on a very small job. The document should fit on two sides of A4.
You can use this document whether you are a sole trader or working through your company. Your clients could be domestic households or other businesses. If you provide services to consumers then you must comply with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. This contract allows you to do that easily. We also explain the law in the guidance notes that help you edit the document to your precise requirements.
The contract also covers those areas where you most need legal strength: limiting your liability if things go wrong; payment collection, including for extras; and limiting negative reviews on social networks. We give you the option of several alternative payment procedures from all up front to all on credit.
- Specification and requirements
- Interruptions and expense: special factors about which the client should be aware
- Payment: model terms and alternative arrangements
